If healing were easy, everyone would do it!
The result of the healing process makes everything worth it, but that doesn't make the journey any less difficult, especially when we dig into the depths of our trauma and painful life experiences.
I wish I could make your healing journey easy and painless, but that just won’t always be the case. What I can offer are some tips to make the painful times easier to handle!
When I say painful experiences, some examples of what I’m referring to could be:
Questioning everything in your life
Spiritual and emotional whiplash
Realizing you aren’t over your breakup of 10 years
Feeling lonely because your friends didn’t like that healing made you change
Sitting with the resentment toward your parents
Unveiling deep and forgotten traumatic experiences, new ones you didn’t even know you would get to process
This is where true healing begins, but before you dive into it, let me show you how to navigate through the harder times.
You get to identify where the pain is coming from, because there are a few different roots:
When it comes from resistance, practice surrender and trust. This can be through prayer, mantras, and cold showers!
When the pain comes from hatred, try really leaning into compassion by stepping into the shoes of the person who caused this pain, and let that person ask you for forgiveness.
The truth of the matter is that the process, when you commit to it, gets hard at times.
And some times, it gets really really hard and it pushes you beyond what you believe you can handle.
With hard times comes amazing outcomes. If you can get through the lowest of times, that will make your capacity of reaching higher times even greater.
Please do be mindful of differentiating the difference between a breakthrough and a breakdown. If you are feeling you are headed toward something unhealthy, redirect and take a new approach.
This is when checking in with a healing or mental health professional comes in handy.
Stick through it and don't give up, it'll all be worth it.
